Remembering WW1 - an evening of poetry, film, theatre and art with Luke Wright, Lindsey German and John William Brown

We are delighted to be joined by acclaimed poets Luke Wright and John William Brown and Stop the War national convenor Lindsey German, for this very special evening which takes place in Fusion - Europe's largest permanent art gallery. This is a cultural and political event to mark the courage of many involved in the war but also to remember the most unimaginable devastation caused. It will also uncover the often hidden thread of resistance that there was at the time to war and help ensure that this anniversary is used to promote peace and international co-operation.

Tickets for this special event cost £8 (£5 concessions) and include a glass of wine. BOOK YOUR TICKET: Online www.greenhousetrust.co.uk or tel: 01603 631007 (Tuesday – Saturday).

About our contributors: Luke Wright is the author of six solo poetry stage shows and curates the poetry tent at the Latitude Festival. He is a regular on BBC Radio. He has been commissioned to write five poems about WW1 in Essex. John William Brown is a poet, painter and performer based in Norwich and will be performing a sonnet about the Great War - Fragments of Fragments. Lindsey German is the national convenor of the Stop the War Campaign and a leading writer and activist.

  1. Hi Luke, really enjoyed the No Glory evening in the Forum – John’s extract and your poems gave 2 very different approaches – both brill and thought provoking. Enjoyed your Essex poems, I used to be a social worker based at Clacton and knew Jaywick kids many years ago before it became so infamous. Also I liked your reference to Southend the day before WW! was declared. I happen to have a picture of my mother and grandmother with relatives from Southend on that beach the day before WW2 was declared. Thanks for making the Jaywick poem (can’t remember what it’s called) available on your website
