Documentary making #8

So nearly done! I have a first draft of Yvonne and Reg’s poem now and their comments. A lot of what I wrote cannot be directly transferred into bsl so what they are signing will not be what my words are, but the sentiment will be there. I’m going to knock up a final draft [...]

Documentary Making #7

Had a great time in Stroud yesterday. Yvonne and Reg Cobb are lovely people and they have three very adorable children. Why do children always think its ok to hit me with cushions? Not that I really minded, we had fun, but I kids just think I’m a soft touch. I’m going to be so [...]

Documentary Making #6

I’m on a train heading to Stroud. I’ve never been Stroud before. I wonder what it’ll be like. Probably quite nice, it’s in the Cotswold and quite near Cheltenham, and Cheltenham is very nice. In fact I have about an hour at Cheltenham Spa station. That’s not very nice. I’ve dropped Byron Vincent off there [...]

Documentary Making #5

Really frustrating day today. Got nothing done, which means I’ll be working on Christmas Eve. Still, in the last half hour I think I’ve had a break through. In my mind, not on paper or anything actually prodcutive like that. Still getting it straight in your mind is 60% of the battle. That was just an [...]

Documentary Making #4 (and a poem)

Documentary Making #3

I’ve written four of the seven poems now. The last one is still to be approved by the chap who’s got to read it. It’s a strange one as this is about a couple who have broken up. I wrote two different options, a villanelle and twenty line piece is terza rima. The villanelle I [...]

Documentary Making #2

Ill ill ill! I’ve been in bed since last Wednesday. Really nasty bout of flu. It’s only fair, I haven’t had flu (proper flu, not just ‘man’ flu) since I was fresher in 2000. This was worse. And bloody irritating too. I finally get a big TV writing project and my head starts swimming and [...]

Documentary Making #1 (and a poem)

Blimey-flimey, what a week  it’s been. From Wednesday 26 November to Friday 5 December I was in schools. I think I did something like 20 performances and about 20 workshops. Knackering to say the least. But fun. I met some really great teenagers along the way and saw them write some really cool poems.

Last school [...]
